This is the page that will lead you to everything you need to know about membership of Broadstairs Sailing Club. Find out about the membership categories, rates and even download a membership form!

Broadstairs is a club with very friendly atmosphere. We have a proud history, having been founded in 1936, but the club has all modern facilities. We have nationally renowned sailing and regular social events throughout the year (they too are nationally known!). The clubhouse lounge and bar is in a prime seafront location and has a panoramic view of Viking Bay. It’s full of character and is undergoing a major refurbishment this winter, so it will be even better next year, all for the benefit of the members.

What cost for all this? We have 6 membership categories at BSC, and all of them offer fantastic value for money (there they are, on the left). If you work it out, a single membership is only £1.42 a week 1 That’s less than you can get a cup of coffee for these days. For 60p a week more, both you and your husband/wife or partner can join, and it still costs less than a latté!
Our pro rata system for new members means this doesn’t change, no matter when you join (see below)

Got children? Our Family and Single Parent categories add all your children for just £12.50 onto the cost of the annual Joint or Single membership. Sailing is a lot better for children (and adults alike) than a Playstation or Xbox! It can be a very active sport, it’s very sociable and develops confidence and self awareness.

If you’re under 18 or in full time education, then our Junior and Student memberships are there for you. These offer you use of all the facilities of the club that a Single member would have (except the bar for under 18s!) at a price that you can afford.

The membership year starts on the 1st of January. However, we appreciate that most new members don't come to us right at the beginning of the year. Summer is when we get most enquiries. Many looking for more information about membership after stopping to chat to a sailor while out for a walk on Broadstairs' seafront. We don’t think it’s fair to take a years membership if there’s only half the year left. As a result, for new members, we operate a pro rata discount system on membership fees 2 whereby you only pay from the month you join until the end of the year!
This means that no matter when you decide to join Broadstairs Sailing Club you will always get the same excellent value.

The discounts don’t stop after your first year; for established members a 10% discount is given to those that pay their membership fees by 31st January.

1 Membership fees are paid annually
2 This doesn’t apply to the Joining fee
