PHASE 1
Phase 2
Phase 3
Phase 4
The Gents changing area has been completely gutted and refurbished.
The work included many features that are not only cosmetic but will help keep the area looking good in the future. The facilities were repositioned to make better use of the space, the largest change being the larger shower area (instead of the two cubicles). The floorboards were replaced and a new waterproof flooring was put in; this will be much easier to keep clean, and the blue (for boys!) colour is in line the rest of the colour scheme. The walls were taken back to bare brick, battened, plastered and tiled throughout. Like the walls, the ceiling was taken right back and replastered before installing new halogen lighting; this gives a much brighter, cleaner atmosphere and really shows off the sparkle in the new floor.
The shower area benefits from 4 shower heads and they in turn benefit from the installation of a whole new heating infrastructure which is now of sufficient capacity to give a plentiful supply of hot water to the showering area.

PHASE 2
Phase 3
Phase 4
The Ladies changing area undergone it's refurbishment and like the Gents, it has been tiled and had a new floor laid (in pink for girls!), new halogen lighting etc.
The single shower cubicle has been replaced by a new built in double shower area both of which benefit from the new water heating capacity that was installed during phase 1.
The wardroom has been redecorated and this has made it a more versatile and usable space. It has been used to extend our social dining capacity on several occasions and also as an oveflow changing rooms when large events are being hosted at Broadstairs.

Phase 2
PHASE 3
Phase 4
The phase that has had the biggest visual impact of the whole refit to date is the redecoration of the clubhouse bar. More than just a lick of paint and new carpet, we have enlarged the current bar area into the passageway by removing the wall, and moving the bar itself onto the West wall (the opposite side to where it is now!).
Commodore Peter Holland has answered some questions about the details of the new layout here

The refurbishment required closing the clubhouse during the work as it was felt that it was most sensible to do it in the 'off' season. Even though there wasn't quite enough money in the pot at the moment to do the lounge area at the same time as was the original plan (This will now be Phase 4). However fundraising will continue and the rest of the lounge area will get it's redecoration when finances permit.

The Grand Opening Party and dedication to Richard Noble was held on the 11th March. To see how it looks now it's all done, we have uploaded progress reports and some photos here (report 1), here (report 2) and finally here (report 3).

Phase 1
Phase 2
Phase 3
PHASE 4
As mentioned above, there wasn't quite enough money in the coffers to refurbish the lounge as well as remodel the bar area. So now that will be done later in the year when funds become available again. The wiring for new lounge lighting and the fire alarm system has been installed during Phase 3 so slightly reducing the future workload. With the new bar looking fantastic, I'm sure socials and bar use will soon have us ready to start the final interior Phase!
