Seeing as you can't go in...

Here are more pictures of whats gone on so far.

The new opening into what used to be the underused passageway Changed a bit!
Comparison of what we saw in the last progress report

For a general overview, words are nice but the images best show the progress to date. The walls and ceiling have been plastered, and the first base coats of paint are being applied. The lower parts of the wall are being clad in simulated tongue and groove panels, which will also be painted. New door frames have been constructed for the new doors and for some of the existing ones as well. These also have been primed and undercoated.
From the lobby to the new bar
The new bar has been built (it's under that dust sheet... you'll just have to take our word for it!). The top will have a black granite work surface with new beer pumps. A glass washer will make the bar tenders job a little easier. There will be two double fronted refrigerators under the bar for cooling the bottled and canned drinks and the mixers.

The larger of the two lobby notice boards is no more (mainly due to the wall falling down!), but the space either side of the new doors will now be used for notices.

The extraction system has been installed in the ceiling, which will exhaust over the cinema roof. A new fire alarm system is being installed throughout the club to ‘future proof’ the club, so that we will be ready to conform to new regulations when they become effective.
Back to bare brick; what will become the new back bar. From the new bar to the lobby
With the glass bricks in the passage way (a feature that's back in style again) and the window above the new bar allowing lots of daylight into the bar area, it's a whole lot brighter! In order to make the most of the light, an artwork on glass will be in place in front of the long above-bar window (it will be backlit for darkness hours). Other decorative features will be the submarine repeater compass from the old bar and hopefully some new photographs. Lighting in the bar area will be by a grid of halogen downlighters, but dimmable so it won't look like a doctor's waiting room.

The central heating system is being extended so that there will be a new radiator in the entrance lobby. There will be two radiators in the new bar area. All three radiators in the current lounge will also be operational, where only two were previously connected. The big electric heaters in the lounge and the bar have been disposed of. This should reduce the electricity bill somewhat.

Looking from the new bar doors to the lounge doors It's OK, they have a few weeks to tidy it all up!
Looking towards the new main entrance Mind the step on the way to getting your drinks
The outer doors at the end of the passageway are going to be replaced and the metal bar that used to dent the wall will no longer be used!

The wiring infrastructure has also been put in place for the lounge to prepare for when we redecorate in there later in the year, funds permitting.

SO all the refit work is still progressing to schedule, the work should be completed by the end of February. Then the Grand Opening will happen not long after that!

Pictures of the fully finished bar area won't be published on here until after the Official Opening (so as not to spoil the surprise!)
